Saturday 23 June 2018

Bridge HouseWe will be having four tours of the historic and seldom open bridge house, where the great chains that anchor the Menai Suspension Bridge are fixed. Tours start at 9.30, 11.15, 13.15 and 15.00 and last 1.5 hours.

  • Parties will be restricted to 10 persons
  • Children under 5 years of age not accepted
  • Hard hats will be provided but sensible footwear obligatory (e.g no open toes)

  • The abutment is a “confined space” with an uneven, unpaved surface and construction site style temporary stairs and lighting
  • The service deck is adjacent to, but separate from, an operating railway
  • Safety instructions must be strictly observed
  • Groups will be restricted to 10 persons
  • Children under 5 years of age not accepted
  • Hard hats and High Vis waistcoats will be provided for the visit into the abutment and again for the service deck walk.
  • Stout footwear and suitable clothing recommended and access may be denied to visitors considered to be unsafely shod or clad.
  • Visitors advised to wear gloves and have a hand held torch in the abutment.
  • Advice will be given on parking arrangements and where to assemble for the visit.
