- PRINCE’S PIER PROGRESS
Work began in October to refurbish the fabric of the old Davies warehouse on Prince’s Pier. Menter Mon, the owners of the building have worked closely with MBCHT and the project managers, Advent, the designers, WM Design and contractors, Claytons. We should take possession of the building towards the end of March, so look out for events there this coming season. There are two offices in the old Pier Master’s house and we look forward to welcoming their occupants. - PRINCE’S PIER FUNDING APPEAL
We still need to raise £15,000.00 from the community, to match fund monies from Welsh Government and the European Union. Can you help?If 3000 people support the appeal by donating £5.00 each we will reach our target very quickly! Please hand in donations at the office in Canolfan Thomas Telford. We will shortly have an online donation facility in place, accessed through a link on this web site. - NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Last September, the Heritage Trust (MBCHT) was accredited as a Museum for promoting public understanding and enjoyment of the Menai Strait, its two iconic Bridges and Menai Bridge Town. This was achieved, after a lot of hard work by our Trustees and volunteers and we are very proud of our new status! We continue to receive artefacts and documents into the collection; recently the scissors used by Prince Charles to cut the ribbon to open the road across the Britannia Bridge in 1980 were presented to the Menai Heritage collection. They will be on display, alongside the commemorative scissors presented to the then Minister of Transport when Thomas Telford’s Menai Suspension Bridge was freed from toll on 31 December 1940. - VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITES
