Schooldays Past and Present: ‘From Slate to Tablet’

2006-325ph-1024As part of our “Menai Bridge Memories” project we are planning events about “Schooldays Past and Present”.

Share memories of your schooldays, those of your ancestors, and help the children of today to learn about what school was like in the past.

Wednesday, 19th October – drop-in event at the Thomas Telford Centre (across from Waitrose), 6-8 pm

  • Open to all, young and old
  • Parents, bring your children
  • Old-fashioned games for the youngsters and the young at heart to try out
  • Other items and photos showing what schooldays used to be like in the past
  • A short talk about the Telford Centre, originally the National School for Menai Bridge
  • Refreshments!
  • Bring in photos of your school days to share, and to perhaps donate digital scans to our collections. We will also be set up to record people talking about their school days to add to our growing oral history collection.

Tuesday, 25th October – a day of “Talk and Walk” family events, starting at the Thomas Telford Centre, 10 am and 2 pm

  • The walks will go through town past the sites of old schools
  • There will be talks about the schools of the past in Menai Bridge
  • Events based on playground games and rhymes, and refreshments
  • You may even meet some people from the past!
