Menai Heritage & WWI feature in Bangor & Anglesey Mail

Img2014-11-26_100708This week’s Bangor & Anglesey Mail has a full page feature about the work of Menai Heritage’s “Menai Bridge & WWI” project. It includes the story, written by Helen Butterworth, of William Owen Davies, a Royal Welsh Fusilier soldier who served and was wounded in France but later died of TB while posted in Ireland. The WWI group had found a mysterious photo of a funeral procession of soldiers going to Church Island and, through a lot of detective work, later identified it as Davies’ funeral.

The feature also has an article by Julie Stone on the brigades that guarded the bridges during the War.

If you would like to get involved in the WWI project please get in touch!
